do you ever stop to think?

I just created a community page on Facebook for writers of erotica. In the course of doing that, I've naturally been contacting other pages and authors and trying to promote it. During this process, I've noticed several  pages or feeds or groups that have disclaimers: NSFW (not safe for work), X-rated, Over 18 Only, etc.

Now I understand that most of us are prudish Americans and all that but...

When you stop to think about erotica, and particularly the taboo-ness (is that a word?) of it, does it ever amuse, annoy, or otherwise strike you that we feel compelled to include disclaimers about acts that are (for the most part) inherently natural and an integral part of the human experience?

Need I remind you that we all got here because of sex?

If I wrote about some dude sticking his finger in some chick's nose, no disclaimer would be required. But if it's a penis going into a vagina then suddenly I've got to flash a bunch of warnings lest someone get offended.

Just what I happen to be thinking about today. :)

  1. i think its only fair to give warnings so that way if someone enters, reads and then gets offended, its their own damn fault. YOU WERE WARNED, dumbass! :)
most people aren't offended by nose picking, since kids do it. most things kids do aren't considered offensive.

    1. I get what you're saying of course, I am just thinking of it on a broader, more philosophical level...that it's funny (ironic funny, not haha funny) that we can get so offended by something our bodies were designed to do, by something necessary for the survival of our species. Or really any species. :P

  2. I have to admit I have not given this much thought. Now that I'm here reading and commenting on this, advance notice is the right thing to do. People sticking things up others noses is simply gross but funny. Why some people find a eratica offensive is beyond me.

What does need to be considered is Adults have one level and kids have a different level.

  3. well sex, in its most basic form (penis in vagina) is necessary for the survival of our species. sex for pleasure is not. i think that's the line where people get offended. and i'm sure your blog isn't about reproduction LOL its about fucking, all kinds of ways, with all kinds of people HAHAHAHA
