getting started

I published my third novel last week under another name. It's contemporary women's fiction, no romance or erotic element. I think it's a great story though and I'm proud of it. It's selling pretty well and getting good reviews so far too. :)

But now it's time to start on my next book. I rarely take more than a few days off writing. Last night I sat down and began to flesh out the two main characters for my upcoming novel Fisher of Men. I already knew a little about where they were coming from, but I dug a little deeper. I was trying to pick a midwestern town for the main female character to hail from and spent about an hour looking at little towns in Illinois, Nebraska and Wisconsin. It was sort of fun, really! I expect to begin actual writing this week and would love to have the book out around the end of December/beginning of January.

This book features the main character Leah Miller, who grew up in a very religious household in Nebraska, was valedictorian of her high school class and got scholarships to go to Cornell where she began in the engineering program but ended up studying Hotel Administration (for which Cornell is well known!) She has taken her first real job out of college at an exclusive resort named The Pearl where she's managed to get promoted to what is essentially the assistant general manager but has a frou-frou title like Guest Satisfaction Strategist.

The Pearl is where she meets Chris "Cap" Sheldon, a charter fishing boat captain in Ocean City, MD, and divorced father of two adult daughters. They hit it off at a swinger party that is being hosted at The Pearl.

Long story short, Leah has to decide whether or not she can reconcile her religious beliefs with Chris' lifestyle and pursue a relationship with him. Along the way there's lots of drama and misgivings but also plenty of hot and erotic times as well!

I think it's going to be a really fun book and will give readers more insight into the lifestyle that I've come to love, even though I'm not a very active participant.

On a personal note, my third novel's publication coincided with a huge move for me. I am now living with my lover, which is something I never ever thought I'd be doing. It's still sort of surreal, even three weeks after the fact. We're still settling in and we have a ton to do to get his 1960 house up to date but it's been (mostly) fun so far. The house is out in the country, on a heavily wooded lot, which is a pretty similar environment to the one in which I grew up. We're encountering all sorts of interesting creatures along the way which has brought back some childhood memories I didn't think I would ever revisit!

Anyway, this is getting long so I'm going to end here and go strip (some wallpaper.) I wanted to tell my readers that I appreciate you and please, if you have read one of my books and enjoyed it, tell your friends. I haven't been actively promoting and sales have dwindled. So, please leave reviews and spread the word if you enjoyed the reads. Thank you so much for your support!

xoxo
